Meet some of our bears
CJ – Sloth Bear
CJ was rescued from his life as a dancing bear in 2004 and brought into the Agra Bear Rescue Facility. CJ is a very laid back, happy bear and is pictured here in the hole he dug to enjoy the day under the shade of a tree – food is no longer scarce, but fresh and plentiful.
Amitab –Sloth Bear
Amitab was rescued in March 2003 by the Uttar Pradesh Forestry Department and taken to the Agra Bear Rescue Facility. Although blind, Amitab doesn’t seem to have any problem finding his way around his enclosure. He enjoys spending his days relaxing, eating and playing with his bear friends.
Hero – Sloth Bear
Hero was only 7-8 weeks old when he was confiscated from animal traders by Indian authorities in February 2004. He received intensive care from the vets and keepers at the Agra Bear Rescue Facility and is now a happy and healthy young bear. Hero loves to investigate his enclosure, and play with his best friend Mowgli.
